JJ MIDDLEWAY – 27th August 1998
For once it was
Each hollow hereabouts
Had Names and Legends ancient
Engraved upon Earth-Bones
And rivers flowed with stories born of old.
The landscape was a storybook complete
Incorporating ancestral links
With intimate love of land.
And now; is it any surprise
The the barren landscape
Stripped of names
Is stripped of meaning too?
The loss of Legend on the map
A deeper loss reflects
Its time to re-inhabit
This Mythic Land again
